Set this up for my elderly mother, works amazingly well. You do not need to hook it up to the wall or need the ooma scout, or even a computer for that matter (just for initial setup before hardware install). Just get a good wireless handset that has multiple wireless handsets. I'm getting ready to purchase another for myself and discontinue my Verizon Fios phone service (obviously keeping the internet and tv portion) this is the type of product the phone companies don't what you to know about. I'm not sure why Ooma doesn't do a mass tv advetising compain. Possibly becuase an elderly person not familiar with computers may not be able to set this up easily, but anyone with novice computer experience could easily.
