Low Price ooma Core VoIP Phone System with No Monthly Phone Service Bills

Why I didn't sign up for ooma long ago, I don't know. This system works great and NO MORE LANDLINE PHONE BILLS.
It was a little intimidating doing the number porting and switching to "naked dsl". I made the mistake of waiting to switch to naked dsl or dry loop because I wanted to see how well the system worked. But if I was to do it all over again I wouldn't hesitate. One other thing I would have done (and still may do) is just completely cancel DSL and phone completely from AT&T. Trying to get the changes made I made no fewer than a dozen calls to as many 800 numbers until I found the people that could help me. OOMA should not trivialize this in their instructions as they do. They give you these elaborate instructions on how to hook up the thing to your internet and phone system and then have one sentence that says " just call your phone company and have them dry loop your dsl" wasn't right.
If you buy an OOMA system (and if you haven't yet, what are you waiting for) then just hook it to your cable modem. Much easier than trying to do the hookup to DSL.

The Hub and Scout are kind of quirky little boxes. The lights on them are so bright even at the lowest adjustment that they can be annoying. Why didn't they just make them like a regular answering machine? If you have a wall mounted phone then these boxes will have to sit on a counter. They don't wall mount. One of the first things I thought of was why didn't they integrate these right into a phone. I see they are coming out with this now. The lights and buttons on top are huge and they don't need to be. I don't think we understand what all of the lights and buttons even do yet but as long as we figured out how to receive our messages we are ok.
I like that you can retrieve your messages when you call your home phone or on-line. I like that you can see your call log on-line too.
I see they are trying to push the premier service but I have absolutely no need for any of those features. I hope that isn't the only way they are expecting to make money because if it is then they are probably going to start charging something for just the basic service.
