ooma Core VoIP Phone System with No Monthly Phone Service Bills Immediately

I was a vonage user for almost 3 years... I liked vonage but did not like the call quality. I would sound like a robot at times, or I wouldn't be able to hear my caller... i.e. robotic sounds. I found Ooma by accident, and it's the best accident I've ever made. I purchased my Ooma at BestBuy (got a hookup)... and it truly has paid for itself in the 6 months that I've had it.

Setup was a bit challenging for me (I have a wireless router, but I use a cable modem... it was tricky figuring out the config, but eventually I got it).

As far as customer service... this is where Ooma is truly lacking (hence the reason for the 4 star rating)... I waited 40 minutes for someone to tell me that my vonage number could be ported (I followed the other review's advice to confirm if my number could be ported by calling csr svc). The guy sounded like he truly didn't even want to be there... I dare not call when I was setting up... I might still be waiting for help... thank goodness for reading and comprehension skills and common sense.

That being said, I decided to change my number. After reading more of the reviews, I decided not to go thru the hassle and wait time. Plus, a lot of the telemarketers and bill collectors don't have my new number!!!

All in all... Ooma is great... no phone bill... cute design.. and it works. I've had absolutely ZERO problems with my calls!!! If you're willing to try it out, go for it. Just do your research before making the purchase. I personally do not regret my purchase. BTW, I receive tons of postcards from VONAGE begging me to return... 2 months free, etc. Why pass up a free phone bill forever for 2 months free and robotic sounding calls??!!!
