Purchase ooma Core VoIP Phone System with No Monthly Phone Service Bills

I have been a Vonage customer for over 2 years and recently they increased their 500 min/month plan so I decided to try out OOMA, since I never go over 500 min/month(don't like to pay for what I dont use). I only use this phone intermittently and my cell phone is my main phone. The setup was 15 minutes, like they said, didn't need to port number from Vonage, so I just took the new number. I read a lot of negative comments about customer service but I figure I won't be calling them too often, if ever, as I never called Vonage in the last 2 years. So far, it seems to be working fine on my trial calls. I had a lot of problems with Vonage as far as the sound quality, got a lot of complaints from the person on the other end that they couldnt hear me or echo sound, so I think that would be my main concern with any VOIP. I believe the quality depends on your interet service and my cable ISP is not always reliable. I didn't know the voicemail came in the form of an answering machine as I hate having to listen to people leaving their messages, but I guess I can live with it rather than paying for the premier features.
