I have been using Ooma for 3 months now. I decided to cancel my landline and port my number to Ooma. I had a great experience porting the number. I believe Ooma has made the process simple and efficient. It took about 2 weeks from the moment I requested porting the number until it was ported. After that, I disconnected my landline.
As far as quality goes, I cannot tell the difference between a landline and Ooma. The voice quality is excellent! My router/switch at home does not support QoS so I've connected Ooma directly to my cable modem so it takes care of prioritizing the traffic. To be fair about the voice quality, I have to let you know that my service includes about 16Mbps down and about 1Mbps up.
Ooma provides a feature where you connect the Ooma hub into a phone outlet in your house and you can then plug in the Ooma scout into a different outlet, allowing you to have another phone which you could use for the same line or, if you get the premium membership, for a second line. This is a great feature!
The features of the basic plan (free plan), are pretty good but I still signed up for their premium membership. The main reason was because I wanted the black-list feature. The black-list feature allows you to block a caller by either sending them straight to voicemail or by completely blocking their calls. Setting it up is as simple as going to your online account, viewing the call log and clicking on a black-list icon for a particular caller. This featured has stopped all the unsolicited calls which ignore the do-not-call list or claim to be exempt from it.
I have only experienced one outage with this product which required the Ooma hub to be reset to restore the service. Overall, however, I am greatly satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone.
