I am writing this after three days with ooma. No complaint yet. I installed ooma as soon as I received. It went well without a glitch. I didn't have landline, so no need to port phone number, no need to talk to customer services. Before ooma, I used skype with stand alone skype phone for home phone, and prepaid cell phones. But it wasn't easy to convince people to use skype to make calls to my home. Having a skype-in number costs, I believe, $60+ /year. Plus, skype voice quility is only okay, not superb.
The first test call with ooma was to a friend of mine whose phone service is Vonage. We talked near an hour, but there was static background noise. So, I wasn't really impressed with the first test call. The second call was to a cell phone. The voice quality was the best I can expect from any phone service. So the first call to Vonage, the problem was with Vonage. OK, it is not really fair to blame vonage here, because my ISP is Fios 20/5, and my friend's with DSL 1.5/some-k, so maybe it is their ISP, but come on vonage people, or any one with monthly phone bills. Try ooma.

There was a feature that surprised me. Ooma tells me who's calling if there is a name (or business) associated with the number. A friend of mine called and the name was on my phone even I didn't have the number in my phone book. If I call ooma from my work phone, the company name pops up on the telephone. I am not sure if it comes with premium service, I'd better check.

Free phone call until ooma (hub and the company) dies,
