Very simple to set up. Clear instructions - took 5 minutes. Connected the Hub between modem and wireless router with ethernet cables, rebooted both and connected a standard phone. After a quick activation of the account at the Ooma website I was ready to make calls. The Scout set up is also very simple and can be placed anywhere you have a phone jack in the house: Connect the Hub to the nearest phone wall jack, attach the scout to another phone jack and turn on the power. Voice quality is very good and the answering machine capability and website are also excellent. I only wish all products were this good. Highly recommended.
One additional piece of advice for DSL subscribers; When you disconnect your landline the phone company will switch you to what is called a "dry loop" i.e DSL but no phone. Your old account will be canceled and you will be issued a new 10 digit dry loop account number that you will need to reset your account. My experience with AT&T was that the DSL tech support is excellent and they will walk you through reactivation if you need it. Make sure you have the phone rep schedule the dry loop switch and the landline disconnect for the SAME DAY - we didn't and were without internet and phone for 3 days. Also bear in mind that AT&T charges $10/month more for DSL without phone. I was paying $30 for 3.0 Kbps which increased to $40. I downgraded to 1.5 Kbps for $35/month and noticed no difference in phone quality. My cable company is offering 6.0 Kbps for $35/month but AT&T is so reliable (no outages in past 5 years) I am reluctant to change unless my bandwidth needs increase.
