All the other reviews cover the tech aspect/questions to this product, thank god. I struggled forever looking at alternative phone plans, packages, etc to the point of pure torture. Even had a misunderstanding between the phone companies I switched between only to discover I was paying for two services at the same time. Long story short if I haven't looked into it or suffered from a plan then no such animal exists. I've got the ooma phone and I'm never switching again.

I'm scrounging on the most critical thing to say about the ooma phone because it's basically perfect. In the month that I've had it I've heard an echo of my own voice twice (the other caller didn't hear it). That's it. Aside from that experience you'd never know I was talking on the internet. I've got the $6/mo most basic deal I can get through the phone company (plus their extra taxes and charges, no escaping), my internet that runs off my phone service (I love the company DSL Extreme, they run specials between about $12.95/mo and I think $17/mo for dsl service, they're as nice as they are professional, never had a problem with them) and tuh dah, you've got phone and computer for $20 something dollars a month once you buy the ooma phone. I hate phone companies. And not to sound unenlightened, but I pretty much hate the people that work for the phone companies too. But the people at ooma and dslextreme know what they're doing and are great, so do as I'm telling you and you'll spare yourself the grief I went through. Just get the ooma phone. It works perfectly.
