Low Price ooma Core VoIP Phone System with No Monthly Phone Service Bills

I have been using ooma for 1 month and love it. Some advice based on reviews I have seen here:

If keeping your current number is very important to you, call ooma before you buy, and make sure your number can be ported.

If you have 768/128kbps DSL, upgrade to faster service first because 384kbps is recommended by ooma.

If you have Verizon DSL and you port your phone number to ooma, your DSL service will automatically become "dry loop" DSL (a new phone number is given for the "dry loop" account). You must call Verizon after the port to confirm that you want to continue the DSL service (retention department I think). Also, they will try to jack up the DSL price ($20 increase), but when you call up their retention department, tell them you want the same price. (Their web site has DSL without phone service offers). I was able to keep my 3000/768 kbps DSL for the same price ($29.99) without phone service.

I had wanted to do VOIP phone service for quite a while, but was uncertain if I could drop my phone service and keep my DSL. Calling Verizon to get answers was absolutely brutal (no one seems to know - and they bounce you around). I hope my summary above will provide quick answers to questions that took me hours to find out. Good luck!Get more detail about ooma Core VoIP Phone System with No Monthly Phone Service Bills.
