I started to look at Skype and their $3 per month service to replace my $35 per month Comcast phone service. I was ready to buy into the whole thing if I could find a way to plug my existing Panasonic phone system directly into my router. I couldn't find a way to do it. Everything used an adaptor to plug into the computer. The only alterative was Skype phones which get sub par reviews and are expensive.
Luckily one of those Skype phone reviews led me to Ooma. It was exactly what I wanted. I can use my existing phones, plug directly into the router, check voicemail online, and save a ton of money by never having to pay a monthly phone bill.
The whole set up process took less than 15 minutes. Everything works as advertised. The free Ooma Premier trial is interesting and I might want to hand over the extra $99 annual fee for it.
