Order ooma Core VoIP Phone System with No Monthly Phone Service Bills

I ordered the ooma based on the product reviews here. After a snappy install process just as everyone says, I was up an running. See a couple tips at the end of this review on setup.

For you Comcast and Wowway users out there bundling phones into your internet bill, here's the deal...they are charging you for what ooma does free. That's the bottom line. They use Voip and so does ooma.

For people who have dumped their landlines and gone to cell, this is a perfect solution in between. Keep your home phone systems, but dump the bill! As for the quality, it's good enough to replace comcast phones. I've found some calls are perfect and some calls there is a slight difference and slight echo but it's fine considering the benefits.

I will save upwards of $[...] per year now. I hardly use my home phones anyway so this is really nice.

Setup: when you set it up, you will activate at the ooma.com lounge and are offered an option for a temp number or a permanent number. I wanted to keep my home number so the solution is to get a temp number and complete the porting. I also bought a new phone system at the same time so I actually have my old phones still set up with my old number and my new phones on the new ooma. When the porting is complete, when someone calls my existing home number, my new phones will ring. Otherwise, forward your calls from the old number to the temp ooma number.

Since I'm a comcast phone customer (not landline), I was thinking it would be confusing using the comcast router (where my existing phones are) for the new phones but it was quite easy.
